about

The lyrics from Black Sails touch the core of the album. Whereas other songs refer to thoughts and ideas ' symbolically beneath the waves of my life', Black Sails refers directly to mankind's destruction of the ocean. The lyrics refer most specifically to trawling and dredging, which I believe to be short-term thinking, as they're not sustainable practices and are lead causes for the near extinction of some species.

lyrics

Where do you think you’ll catch the oceans final straw?
When do you think you’ll finally fill your quota?
Where do you think a road of greed and plunder goes?
Don’t you know you cannot tame the ocean?

Who are we fighting for?
Why do we scar ourselves?

(Background voice):
Should have seen the star x3
Fire, star
Should have seen the star

Black sails gliding through the dead of night
Moonlight requisition as if by right
Dredging homes ’til the morning comes.
What will you do when there’s none left to give?
Lately they’ve been watching you, making ready, holding through
Black sails sailing through the dead of night
Dredging forever for money and might.

What do you say when you feel it’s over?
What do you think now you’re going over?
Tossing, twirling, twisting through the murky depths
Tables turning, better beg for mercy!
